Voice
The big screen has its own switch, pack and callouts, bottom right of the scoreboard, so a TV in the bar and the phone in your hand can be set separately. The Throwline caller is a recorded voice that calls every score, “You require”, bust and game shot the same on every device; player names are still read by this device’s own voice (picked below), so try it before a busy night.
Everything on this device — matches, career stats, tournaments and settings — as one file.
Restoring replaces what is on this device, so save a backup first if there is anything here worth keeping. A screenโs saved sign-in is deliberately left out of the file — a password should not travel in a backup, so a restored screen asks for its details once.
Throwline Darts โ on this device
An installed app keeps running from what it saved last time, so a device can sit on an old version without saying so. If two devices behave differently, compare this number on both before anything else.

Setting up a board
Two measurements decide whether a board is set up properly, and a third one
proves you got them both right. Every serious game of darts in the world is
played to these, so a board that is out by even a couple of centimetres will
flatter or punish everyone who throws at it.
The three measurements
Measurement

The height never changes. Steel tip and soft
tip are both 1.73 m to the bullseye; only the throwing distance differs. Soft tip
stands 7 cm further back because the American association that wrote those rules
settled on a round 8 ft.
Measure it like this
Height first. 1.73 m from the floor, straight up, to the
centre of the bullseye โ not the top of the board, and not the top of
the surround.
Then the distance, along the floor, from the face of the
board โ the side you throw at โ to the back edge of the throw line.
Not from the wall. A board plus its surround can sit 4 cm proud of the wall, and
measuring from the wall gives that away for free.
Then check the diagonal. Run the tape from the centre of the
bullseye down to the back of the throw line: 2.93 m. If the height and the
distance are right, this one has to be right too โ so if it is out, one of the
first two is wrong. It is the fastest way to catch a board that is level but hung
too high.
Hanging and lighting
20 at the top, in black. Every game in this app assumes it.
A board rotated by one segment quietly changes every score anyone throws.
Flush and tight to the wall. A board that can rock absorbs
darts that should bounce, and shifts out of true over a season. Check the numbers
ring is seated all the way round before you tighten.
Rotate the ring now and then. Doubles and trebles wear out
fastest on 20, 19 and 5. Moving the ring a segment every few months spreads it
and doubles the life of the board.
Backboard or surround. Cheaper than filling the holes in a
wall, and it will earn its keep on the first night.
Light it from the front and above. Lighting behind or beside
the player throws their own shadow onto the board, and a shadowed wire is a
bounce-out waiting to happen. A dedicated dartboard light is the tidy answer; a
downlight a foot in front of the board is the cheap one.
Nothing hard behind the throw line. Players step back. Leave
a clear metre behind the oche and keep the stools out of it.
The throw line itself
A raised oche is the proper article โ a bar on the floor players can feel
through a shoe without looking down. Failing that, a strip of tape works: the
measurement is to the back of it, and the rule is that no part of the
foot crosses the front edge. Players may lean over the line as far as they like,
as long as the foot stays behind it.
Measurements as set by the World Darts Federation (steel tip)
and the American Darts Organization / National Dart Association (soft tip).
